How to Have Kids and Stay Sane

Following the success of his first parenting book Before Your Kids Drive you Crazy, Read This!, writer, clinical psychologist and family therapist Nigel Latta has gone on to become a regular columnist for Littles magazine and has a regular parenting spot on National Radio each week. Nigel Latta has condensed his key tips and added his trademark ironic humour in How to Have Kids and Stay Sane, delivering the good news in manageable bites for harassed parents in danger of exploding. The book has been illustrated by cartoonist Daryl Crimp. Together these no-nonsense dads ladle out the laughs in generous helpings to help battle-weary parents cope with the trials and traumas of living with children 24/7 and not go totally insane.

Reviewer's Comments

"Every generation can be defined by its child rearing book - the sixties and seventies had Dr Spock - the seventies and eighties had Sheila Kitzinger and Dr Christopher Green and now here\'s a book for parents of the new millennium. Forget parenting as a science or an art form. This is common sense distilled into its purest form. Like if your kids won\'t eat anything but crap food, stop feeding them crap. A three year old is going to find it hard to turn on the deep fryer by themselves. Like don\'t make empty threats. If you constantly threaten and never do, Latta says you\'re the parenting equivalent of the UN. Nobody listens to the UN, but they sure as hell sit up and take notice when the rebel warlord walks into the room. Its a slim little volume - just 79 half sized pages of paperback - but then the advice is straight and to the point. There are no unnecessary words and this is very much in keeping with Latta\'s advice. This is refreshing antidote to the earnest tomes that abound on the science of parenting and the perfect gift for new parents - especially the dads."    -  Kerre Woodham
